James Mahony is a Licensee Partner at Nacora, with responsibility for the Ottawa office and leads Nacora’s efforts in complex corporate insurance placements with transactions and public clients in Europe, Asia and North America.

Responsible for leading our efforts in Cannabis, Casualty, Commercial Property, and Directors & Officers coverage, James is well versed in understanding global regulatory and compliance directives that govern the execution of insurance and capital transactions across markets.  Understanding what our clients want to accomplish is critically important, but the execution of those directives and the understanding of HOW to accomplish our client’s goals is James’ strength.  This includes risk transfer structures which range from custom manuscripts to captive and offshore structures including the use of facultative re-insurance.

Additionally, James has developed and built insurance Programs for high-risk sports.  One program we are proud of is our Martial Arts Insurance Program which was built to service the glaring risk gaps of amateur and professional martial arts gyms that have students compete throughout the world in full contact competition where there is no protective gear worn.  As a previous international champion and current lead coach and owner of Westside Muay Thai, James understands what it takes to develop top level talent and focus it to win.

Previous to his role as a Broker, James brings previous experience from his time in Ottawa’s High-tech sector, where he was a Strategic Account Executive with responsibility for corporate clients in the Military and Aerospace sector.  As a graduate of the University of Guelph, James brings a local passion in supporting exporters in Southern Ontario as they work through the complexities managing the variety of risks that they face on a daily basis.
